Floating Islands

Freely inspired from the traditional Chinese and Japanese ink paintings, here, time and space merge and their very concept of locality evaporates, as the picture invites us to explore the paths with no beginning or end.

Between myriads of drops suspended in the sky on a rainy day, between the milky fog at a leaden dawn on a winter morning, or between the thick mist on a hot, sultry summer evening, the ephemeral vision of islands shifts and undulates – the islands of rocks, solitary trees, ancient forests, magical waterfalls, serene rivers and perhaps, some traces of human presence. In the world of water, we and all that is around us are transformed and drift in the ebb and flow of the current.

Pigment prints on photographic 100% cotton base fine art paper, washi paper (和紙) and various materials (silk, wood, ceramic). Different (cm) 7,5x36 to 33x112, tanzaku (短冊), kakejiku (掛軸).

Stampe a pigmento su carta fotografica 100% fibra di cotone, carta washi (和紙) e materiali vari (seta, legno, ceramica). Dimensioni (cm) da 7,5x36 a 33x112, tanzaku (短冊), kakejiku (掛軸).
